Sticking with MLB, the Portland Diamond Project, a group supporting bringing an MLB franchise to Portland, Ore., announced that it had signed an agreement in principle to develop property for a proposed ballpark. The Port of Portland’s 45-acre Terminal 2 property is the proposed site. The University of Kansas is preparing to demolish the Horejsi Family Athletics Center, home to the school’s women’s volleyball program. Demolition is expected to begin Dec. 7, and construction of a new, $10 million facility is slated to begin right afterward. The new facility will reportedly seat 2,300, up from 1,300 at the current facility. The KU volleyball team should be playing in a new building by the start of next season. — kusports.com
Amid dwindling attendance at college football games nationwide, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is reportedly changing its plans to expand Cajun Field.
