Iowa State University is reportedly mulling a $25 million renovation to Hilton Coliseum. The home of Cyclone basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, wrestling and other campus events, the 47-year-old facility could get wider concourses, improved concessions, and address aging mechanical systems if the board of regents grants its permission to pursue the project. — The Gazette
Kent State University’s basketball and volleyball programs are set to get a new $1.6 million practice facility. The new facility will be housed in the school’s M.A.C.C. Annex, and will provide the court sports teams a place to practice when there are other events occupying their current practice space. — KentWired.com
The University of Georgia is allocating $1.2 million for a design study which will look at changes to the school’s Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall. Documents obtained by 247Sports say the study will include upgrading existing space, and adding new construction to the facility’s weight room, training area, locker room, offices and more. Steve Ballmer, owner of the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers, said that despite the roadblocks and challenges involved, he’s determined to build a new arena specifically for his team. Though not likely to open to 2024, Ballmer’s vision for the project includes both a new competition arena with 18,000-20,000 seats, a new practice facility, team offices, a sports medicine clinic, parking facilities and more.
