Georgia Military College has upgraded its weight room.
The Ruark Athletic Complex weight room was recently overhauled with new weight racks, dumbbells, exercise machines, a turfed area, and an updated look.
GMC officials gathered last week to mark the completion of an approximately $150,000 project paid with private donations.
The growth of the football program and competition on the recruiting trail were driving factors in upgrading the weight room.
Using funding remaining from the construction of the new multistory gym building on the campus of Los Alamitos High School, officials gathered last week to break ground on a $26 million multipurpose athletic facility that will sport three basketball courts and electronic equipment sufficient to one day facilitate esports as well.
Some of the major features include:
- Gymnasium with over 30,000 sq. ft. of space.
- Multipurpose facility for various sports.
- Retractable bleachers for about 1,900 occupants.
- 3,000-square-foot indoor/outdoor weight room.
- Concessions to serve track and field and gymnasium.
- 5 team rooms and storage.
- 2 sets of gendered restrooms, 4 single-use restrooms.
- Gymnasium and field facilities.
- Sports filming capabilities, AV integration, digital scoring, smartboard display.
