The Colorado Buffaloes are getting a new football stadium videoboard, a year after selling out every home game for the first time ever.
Construction of the new screen at Folsom Field began in January on the University of Colorado campus and is expected to be finished for CU’s season opener on Thursday, Aug. 29, against North Dakota State.
CU Athletic Director Rick George said last fall that the new Folsom Field video board will be more than five times the surface area of the old board.
The video board will go from being one of the smallest in the Power 5 conferences to above the national average of all schools within those conferences.
The new board will measure 130 feet wide by 36 feet high, eight feet taller than the previous board and 98 feet wider, or about the same width of the ribbon board under the current video board, which measures 32 feet by 28 feet. [9 News]
Green Bay (Wis.) West High School will break ground on stadium renovations on Monday morning.
Some of the renovations include new synthetic turf, a practice field, restrooms, a grandstand, a press box, and lighting.
Funding for the project comes from the passing of a referendum in November of 2022.
Green Bay’s mayor Eric Geinrich will also be there for the groundbreaking ceremony, set to get underway around 11 a.m. on Monday. [WBAY}
Following the project’s kick-off celebration in November 2022, turf replacement at the Cooper Park Sports Complex in Springfield began in April 2024.
The Cooper Park renovations are split into two phases: the first phase focuses on the park’s soccer fields, while the second focuses on the baseball and softball fields.
According to Jenny Fillmer Edwards, public information administrator for the Springfield-Greene County Park Board, the staging of the project in phases aims to avoid all of the park’s fields being unavailable for play at the same time.
The first phase has a targeted completion date of January 2025. The general contractor for the first phase is GeoSurfaces, Inc. [Springfield Daily Citizen]
