Local officials, developers and state lawmakers in Albany, NY, met with the Hochul Administration at the New York State Capital on Thursday, discussing a $300 million "entertainment district" aimed at transforming Albany's Liberty Park.

The project would include an 8,000 seat soccer stadium, of which MLS Next Pro has committed to utilizing for an expansion team.

Developers though, say the cost of the stadium would only be 25 percent of the total project, which is expected to include housing, restaurants, businesses and a hotel.

Ed and Lisa Mitzen, Co-Founders Business for Good are heading up the project alongside developer Jeff Buell. Right now, the source and timing of funding is still unknown. [CBS 6]

As St. Petersburg City Council members on Thursday prepared to delve into the details of a proposed agreement for the development of the Historic Gas Plant District, they got a new look at the vision the Tampa Bay Rays and the team’s development partner, Hines, have for the project.

So fresh were the renderings presented at Thursday’s council meeting, team President Brian Auld said, that designers were working on them “through the night last night.” They represent some of the most detailed glimpses so far into how the proposal — which includes a new Rays ballpark, a concert venue, a new home for the Woodson African American Museum of Florida, thousands of residential units and hundreds of hotel rooms — could look. When the opportunity to open a D1 training facility in the Kalamazoo area first arose, Jon Reisterer knew it was something he could wake up every day and get excited about.

That excitement, which he shares with his wife Maija, led to the couple signing a franchising agreement last April. After a 13-month journey, the couple will open the doors to D1 Kalamazoo on Monday, May 13.

The new, 3,861-square-foot athletic training facility, at 6800 S. Westnedge Ave. in Portage, applies a sports science-backed training regimen to help people of all ages achieve sport and fitness goals. [mlive.com]
