The estate of a major donor to the LaRue County (Ky.) High School's renovated athletic facilities has requested a refund of half the monies donated to the project that will see the installation of new turf and other upgrades.
According to The News-Enterprise, the estate of Danny Rock has requested a refund of $250,000 from the $500,000 donated to the C.H.A.M.P. project in October of 2023. Half of the total amount had already been disbursed.

According to The News-Enterprise, the estate of Danny Rock has requested a refund of $250,000 from the $500,000 donated to the C.H.A.M.P. project in October of 2023. Half of the total amount had already been disbursed.
The remaining money was expected to be presented after contract negotiations were complete and stipulations included naming the football field Rock Field and an updated scoreboard reading Danny F. Rock Stadium.
The News-Enterprise reported that the specifics regarding the contract were ongoing at Rock's death on May 24, 2024.
Hodgenville Attorney Ronald D. Mather represents the estate and its administrators, Troy C. Rock and Kera Rock Burks.
The two children have since become familiar with the "background of the proposed donation" and the estate's overall situation.
“[Troy and Kera] have also become familiar with Danny’s final thoughts regarding the proposed donation and negotiation,” the document states. “They are aware of the email that was exchanged Friday before Danny’s passing the following Monday as well as input from other individuals familiar with Danny’s thinking. Further, it appears that Danny confirmed the decision to additional individuals before his passing.”
The children claim their was no "final meeting of the minds" and no binding agreement and have requested the refund.
The LaRue County Board of Education's attorney Tom Claycomb said he saw "no problem with the district refunding the money. as requested."
