With $300 million to work with, PNC Arena’s governing body is moving closer to deciding how to use that money to renovate the arena.
On Thursday, the Centennial Authority, PNC’s governing body, received a presentation detailing concepts for possible PNC Arena enhancements. The 100-slide presentation featured ideas and options for those renovations.
“We’re trying to do this for the fan experience and the community. It’s a 25-year-old building and it’s time for a refresh,” said Philip Isley, Chairman of the Centennial Authority.
The presentation comes about a month after Carolina Hurricanes owner Tom Dundon officially signed a contract for a $300 million PNC Arena makeover and the development of an entertainment district last. The agreement also came with a lease extension to keep the team in Raleigh until at least the 2043-44 NHL season. [MSN.com]
Ground is officially broken on the future west Huntsville recreation center, kicking off a year-long construction project to build a new place to play in the City’s fifth district.
The one-story, 27,350-square-foot facility located at 150 Martin Road, just west of Zierdt Road. The facility’s design mirrors the Mark Russell Recreation Center on Taylor Road, which is typically one of Huntsville Parks & Recreation’s busiest centers.
It will feature a gymnasium with two basketball courts, two volleyball courts and three indoor pickleball courts. Sitework will also include three exterior pickleball courts and landscaping.
Construction is expected to take a year to complete. [Huntsville]
