Ferris State University students will soon be able to watch the football games from the comfort of their residence hall rooms as the school plans an innovative living center attached to the Bulldog’s Top Taggart Field.

Ferris State President Bill Pink said the new residence hall is part of an effort to update student living spaces. The state-of-the-art facility will wrap around the stadium just beyond the north end zone.

“This new living space puts students right in the heart of the action at Ferris State University,” Pink said. “We are creating an unmatched student experience in our residence halls to accompany the work we’ve done in our classrooms. This will be a state-of-the-art facility with all the modern conveniences students today are looking for, with the added benefit of being attached to an entertainment complex that will host events throughout the year. These students will truly have the best seat in the house.” [Ferris State]

Georgia Tech officially unveiled a new locker room for the school’s Swimming and Diving teams. According to school officials, $1.4 million-plus renovation of the spacewas funded by donors and letterwinners.

Both the men’s and women’s teams will be the beneficiaries of the new spaces, which include several new features including:

  • modernized visual displays throughout the space;
  • 78 state-of-the-art lockers for student-athletes;
  • new coaches’ locker rooms and lounges;
  • renovated restrooms and showers;
  • new stonhard epoxy flooring.

Interim Toni M. and Richard L. Bergmark Swimming and Diving head coach John Ames spoke on the renovations, “This renovation is the perfect way for our student-athletes to arrive on campus with an exciting and energetic outlook for the future of our program.” [SwimSwam.com]

Adding a new and unique football game day experience tailored to groups of 14 fans, Carolina Athletics is joining a handful of schools around the country in partnering with RevelXP to offer Tar Heel Patios, two new outdoor premium seating areas in Section 131 in Kenan Stadium.

The Tar Heel Patios, which are still under construction, will offer 14 tickets, five parking passes, food and beverage service, comfortable seating, a television and an incredible view of the game to cheer on the Tar Heels.

"The demand for premium seating and innovative in-stadium hospitality is on the rise, and we wanted to introduce new seating experiences for our Carolina fans,'' said Rick Steinbacher, Senior Associate Athletic Director for Capital Projects and Facilities. "In 2017, we experimented with chair backs, installing them in two sections of Kenan Stadium. They were ultimately so successful that we expanded the seat backs throughout the stadium – and we hope to have similar success and expansion in premium seating options, as well." [GoHeels.com]
