L35 Architects, in collaboration with GMP Architekten and Ribas & Ribas, leads the final phase of the Real Madrid’s Santiago BernabĂ©u Stadium renovation (find designboom’s previous coverage here), fine-tuning the last details. The project now features a striking metallic facade and interior upgrades, including VIP areas, improved circulation, and enhanced wayfinding through strategic lighting and materials. Following the latest update (find designboom’s previous coverage here), the North and East facades are complete, while work continues on the South and West sides. Public access is operational through temporary entry points, soon to be replaced with permanent systems that align with the stadium’s high standards. The exterior development is progressing, with the surrounding streets finalized and the east plaza nearing completion, providing essential connections to metro and parking facilities. [Designboom]

It’s a big day in Mobile County as officials break ground on the new aquatics center.

The groundbreaking ceremony began at 10 a.m. at the Mobile County Sportsplex on Halls Mill Road.

The 40,000-square-foot Mobile County Aquatics Center will house an indoor competitive pool, a warmup instructional pool, locker room, and restrooms. There will also be an outdoor competition pool with two dive wells.

Officials say the aquatics center will take about 12 to 18 months to complete. [MSN.com]

Taxpayers in Orlando are getting a new look at the $400 million renovation coming to Camping World Stadium.

The Orange County Board of County Commissioners in January authorized the use of the Tourist Development Tax revenues (TDT) for multiple projects, including $400 million for Camping World Stadium improvements.

The stadium was built in Orlando in 1947 and has been renovated several times.

One of the largest, and most recent upgrades, was 10 years ago, when the stadium showed off a $210 million renovation.

At the time, the stadium received a brand new lower bowl, a new, large monitor and two new concourses that connect the stadium.

About 90% of the stadium was revamped in the nine-month project. [ClickOrlando.com]
