Troy University will begin construction on the TROY Athletics Indoor Practice Facility in January. The $11.6 million facility is scheduled to open in August in time for fall camp ahead of the 2025 season.

“The indoor facility is an incredibly important addition to our football program— which is built upon a tradition of success,” Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins Jr. said. “We are very proud of our Trojans and appreciate the support of our Trustees and the TROY family in making this facility a reality.”

The facility will be built behind Trojan Arena on one of the four existing grass practice fields adjacent to George Wallace Drive. Featuring a brick exterior to match the architectural beauty across TROY’s campus, the 88,000-square foot facility features a fully covered 120-yard field with turf that replicates the playing surface in The Vet. Thanks to the generosity of donors, Benedictine College Athletic Director Charlie Gartenmayer is pleased to announce an indoor facility to the Asher Sports Complex.

The facility will contain restrooms, and a satellite training room in addition to the primary area of the building housing four hitting tunnels for use by the Raven Baseball and Raven Softball programs. The cages will have the ability to move in different configurations to suit the needs of both programs. Additionally, the cages can be pushed out of the way to provide an open space for the student-athletes to conduct fielding and throwing drills when they aren't able to do so on their respective fields.

"We continue to remain committed to supporting the growth of our student-athletes both in the classroom and on the field," Gartenmayer said. "As we continued to look at ways we could accomplish our mission to support building championship-level programs, adding an indoor facility was at the top of the list. We are excited to work with team Jeff Ellison and his team on this new project for our baseball and softball programs." [Raven Athletics]

Kids in youth sports now have a new place in the Brooklyn Park, Minn., to receive specialized training.

On Tuesday, Redline Athletics celebrated the grand opening of its new location in Brooklyn Park.

Staff members showed off the space to members of the I-94 West Chamber of Commerce and trainers even put a few of them through performance drills.

The gym offers training sessions for athletes between the ages of 8 and 18 to develop their speed, agility and power. [CCX Media]
