Snider High School is set to make a monumental upgrade to its athletic facilities with the construction of a new 4,400-seat football stadium that will cost $30 million.
Fort Wayne Community Schools (FWCS) officials held a public information meeting Wednesday night to discuss plans for the new stadium. At the meeting, school officials presented detailed renderings of the stadium, which will serve other sports in addition to football.
With safety being a large concern, crosswalks will be included to ensure the community can easily access facilities. [WANE]
The in-person experience for Eastern Kentucky men’s and women’s basketball games is about to get a whole lot better. EKU’s home gym — Baptist Health Arena at Alumni Coliseum in Richmond — is in the midst of a multi-phase renovation process.
The first two phases have been completed, with the third and final phase of the renovation set to begin at the end of EKU’s 2025 spring semester, with the goal of being completed before the start of EKU’s 2025 fall sports season.
But, with the first two phases of the renovation finished, Baptist Health Arena is open to the public again. The ongoing renovations began in March, and temporarily forced several EKU sports out of the venue. [Lexington Herald-Leader]
A private donation from owners of a local brewery will help fund a $7 million pickleball facility at Western Michigan University’s athletic club.
The 37,000-square-foot indoor facility at 2001 S. 11th St. in Oshtemo Township will be attached to the north side of the club’s building and feature 13 championship-sized courts, a press release from West Hills Athletic Club said.
Ruth and Mike Stoddard, owners of Latitude 42 Brewing Co., made the donation, but want to keep the donation amount private, said Betsy Sell, general manager of West Hills Athletic Club. The Stoddards founded Latitude 42 in 2013. [MLive.com]
