Brookfield Local Schools in Ohio is auctioning off the nearly 9-acre site of the district's former football field, which includes a parking area, a concessions stand, a press box, a storage building and bleachers.
As reported by CBS affiliate WKBN in Youngstown, citing information on the district's website, a public auction for the George A. Nicholas Field on Judson Road in Masury will be held May 19, with a separate auction for the bleachers to follow a half-hour later.
Safety concerns about the facility forced school officials to make the decision to move. A new field location opened last September behind the K-12 campus.
The old property was assessed at $62,700 last year, with a total appraised value of $177,000, according to the Trumbull County Auditor’s website.
Basinger Auctions, which will handle the auction, states on its website that bidding for the stadium starts at $1. A $10,000 nonrefundable down payment will be due from the top bidder upon final approval of the sale, WKBN reported.
