Slippery Rock (Pa.) University hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its newly renovated softball stadium Kasnevich Field Saturday, welcoming namesake Jan Kasnevich back to campus to mark the official opening the complex.

"We're thrilled to welcome Jan and her friends and family back to campus for this momentous day in Slippery Rock history," said athletic director Roberta Page. "This stadium gives our women's softball student-athletes one of the finest facilities in the country to practice and play in and we expect it to significantly impact the sport in our community and region."

The field was originally dedicated in Kasnevich's name in 2022 before undergoing major renovations that began following the 2024 season and were completed in the spring of 2025. The renovations included a full rebuild of the facility, with an all-turf playing surface, new grandstands, new dugouts, new bullpens, a new press box, stadium lights and a concession and restroom building. Beacon College has raised its fundraising campaign goal to pay for major campus improvements, including a state-of-the-art fitness center.

The nation’s first accredited four-year institution for students with learning differences announced that it is expanding the goal of its historic capital campaign, dubbed The Beacon Promise, by $2.5 million.  In April 2023, the college set a goal of $12 million, but on March 31, Beacon announced via press release that it will increase its goal to $14.5 million by June 2026.

As the centerpiece of The Beacon Promise campaign, a 28,000-square-foot Intramural & Fitness Center is set to break ground later this year.

The now $11 million Intramural & Fitness Center will include two university-regulation basketball courts, a well-equipped fitness center, a running track, and a dedicated space to host social gatherings and club meetings. (Daily Commercial)

Just in time for the new baseball season, the Corvallis Blue Devils celebrated the opening of their brand new baseball stadium during the team's home opener. The Corvallis Baseball and Softball Association spearheaded the grand opening, having raised nearly one million dollars to construct the facility as the demand for baseball and softball continues to grow in the Bitterroot.

It's a good sign of things to come as we enter year three of varsity baseball in Montana. The new stadium addresses previous safety concerns and space limitations.

"We were really concerned about the safety conditions at our old field," said Corvallis Softball and Baseball Secretary Jessica Cardullo. "We wanted a new facility where players could play and be safe, and we knew we needed more space because it's very hard to schedule games with the limited facilities that are available in the area."
