Augusta Athletics Announces Major Softball Facility Upgrades

Augusta University Athletics has announced a new wave of enhancements to the Jaguar Field softball complex, with upgrades set to be completed ahead of the 2026 season. The project is part of a larger initiative to revitalize Augusta Athletics facilities.

The updated softball facility will feature 225 chairback seats and a new top-mounted press box to improve the experience for fans, student-athletes, and media.

Additional upgrades include new batting cages designed in the same style as the recently renovated baseball cages. Branding on the concession stand, including an acrylic Augusta word mark, along with the installation of a statue of Augustus between the baseball and softball fields, will contribute to a more unified and polished look across the entire complex.

"We are so excited for the facility enhancements that have been planned for Jaguar Field and are thrilled to see the seating project get underway late this summer," said Head Coach Melissa Brocato, who is entering her 28th season. "It will help provide our team and fans with an excellent game day experience."

Historic Manual Stadium Receives Modern Upgrades

An iconic stadium in Louisville that was built in 1924 is getting a much-needed facelift.

"We like to sell history. We like to sell nostalgia here, but we also want to be as modern as we can to we want to continue to offer the best facilities for our kids," said Manual athletic director David Zuberer.

Manual Stadium, a historic landmark in the middle of the Schnitzelburg neighborhood, will feature a new turf field and video scoreboard, along with renovated bathrooms, bleachers, concession stands and press box. Other maintenance work will be done around the facility, such as new fencing, paint and lights.

The stadium is a place that holds many memories over the last 100 years, and the hope is that the upgrades will create new ones surrounding Manual athletics and other potential events.

An Investment in the Next 100 Years: New Locker Rooms Unveiled at LHS

LACONIA — Dank, cramped, immodest: whatever derogatory term you would use to describe your high school's locker room, it would have likely applied to those at Laconia High School. Now, after a thorough renovation that took place all school year, different descriptors come to mind.

"They're gorgeous," senior Ethan Byington, athlete and student representative on the school board, said at a meeting on May 6.

The locker room renovations are part of a larger $10 million project, paid for largely through federal Elementary and Secondary Schools Emergency Relief funds, which previously included updates to the school's bathrooms and cafeteria, and will also result in improvements to air handling systems. A little less than 30% of the total cost will come from reserve accounts.

On a tour of the newly renovated locker rooms, Athletic Director Craig Kozens said the previous space was designed for a bygone era, when teams and gym classes showered en masse, and when students didn't carry as much stuff around school with them.
