Red Land Honors Rob Gildea With New Hitting Facility Named 'The Rob' Amid His ALS Battle
If the Red Land Patriots are in action, odds are Rob Gildea is in attendance.
“You will see him working at Friday night football games, announcing for field hockey and soccer games, he is a member of the high school basketball coaching staff, president of the baseball boosters, and announcer for baseball and softball,” said Red Land Athletic Director Tom Peifer when describing how involved with Red Land athletics Rob Gildea is.
When he first moved to the area, Gildea instantly bought into Red Land athletics.
Peifer said, “Over the last ten years, Rob has become Red Land.”
In turn, the community has given back to one of their biggest supporters in a time of need.
“I didn’t grow up here, I didn’t go to Red Land, and they have accepted me. They’ve accepted an outsider like I’ve been here my whole life,” said Gildea. “The Red Land community, the Red Land family has supported my family and I throughout this battle and journey with ALS for the last five years.”

Navarro ISD Breaks Ground on New Athletics Facilities
A line of about 40 Navarro ISD students stood along the edge of the parking lot with their backs to the new Navarro High School and faced a dirt field filled with large earth movers as they waited for the go-ahead to make the first play.
On the count of three, student-athletes from all levels and all sports either tossed, hit or threw a ball, sprinted a short distance or mock tackled their teammates to signal the start of construction work on the Navarro High School’s new athletic complex at a groundbreaking pep rally Friday morning.
“Elite is a buzz word we like to us. That is elite, that building behind us (the new high school), that is elite. These fields, these courts and everything that is going to be here, that is elite level,” Navarro ISD Athletic Director Glen Hill said. “Cheer, dance, band, everybody is going to get to benefit from this and truly foster growth within our community. We can not even begin to express how grateful we are for that.”
