Dover High School Athletic Complex: $18 million Project Approved
The Dover High School outdoor athletic complex will get an $18,037,000 overhaul after receiving approval in a June 25 vote by the City Council.
The vote trimmed $2 million from the $20,037,000 plan originally recommended by the School Board. The council's decision came after many months of work by the Joint Building Committee, which is planning the project. The JBC also pushed for the full $20 million.
The project calls for upgrading facilities at Dunaway Field that are aging and inadequate, including a condemned outdoor track. A community discussion over several months centered on cost and whether to bring in synthetic turf or new natural grass fields.
