Veteran Ridgefield High School Cuts Ribbon on Dream Sports Facility
The blueprint for a Bethel-native volleyball coach’s dream started on a napkin two years ago. On Friday, she cut the ribbon to its brick-and-mortar manifestation alongside the town she thanks for it all.
Lidania Cibere, a volleyball coach of almost two decades between Ridgefield High and her club team, CT Stars Volleyball Club, opened her Stars Lab sports facility on the Danbury border Friday.
“It was really important to create a space where kids and adults can be active and have that right here in Bethel,” she said.
The 16,000-square-foot facility, which houses three volleyball courts, three basketball courts, six pickleball courts, a weight room, a viewing area for parents and other amenities is Cibere’s way of giving back to Bethel.
Her hometown is where sports became embedded in her life, alongside her sisters, she said. Cibere, who captained her Bethel high school tennis, basketball and volleyball teams, led the Ridgefield boys volleyball team to the state championship last year, and also did so in 2014, 2015 and 2016.

The city said the sports complex features nine fields to provide recreational activities for youth and families.
Laguna Beach installs $1.M Athletic Turf at Guyer Field
The Laguna Beach Unified School District has completed a $1.165-million athletic facility renovation, installing a new turf track and field at Laguna Beach High just in time for the fall sports season.
Guyer Field, as the high school’s stadium is called, has long held a spot among the top places to take in a sporting event at the prep level, the venue’s elevated stands possessing an unparalleled view of the Pacific Ocean from atop its perch off Park Avenue.
In addition to the action on the field and the sweeping ocean view beyond, spectators will be able to enjoy the silhouette of a wave spanning the 100 yards between the end zones.
