Creighton Announces $300M Athletic Facility Project
Creighton University on Thursday announced a $300 million project to upgrade and build athletic and recreation spaces on the eastern part of campus, including a new student fitness center, a sports performance facility and upgrades to current athletic structures.
The campaign, called Fly Together, already has a $100 million gift from the Heider Family Foundation and an additional $105 million from other donors. According to the announcement, the Heider Family donation is the largest gift in Creighton’s history. The project will be fully donor-funded.
Daniel Hendrickson, president of Creighton University, said the project is part of a larger plan to focus areas of campus as different neighborhoods or districts, including academics, residential and recreation.
Christenberry Fieldhouse Upgrades Spark Excitement for New School Year
The excitement building up through the fall portion of the athletics season at Augusta University has been amplified by the brand-new look of Christenberry Fieldhouse on the Forest Hills Campus.
Along with numerous upgrades and enhancements to the almost 35-year-old facility, the athletics complex that houses Jaguar Athletics and the Department of Kinesiology in the College of Education and Human Development has a new "glow up."
"You come up the hill, and it's just exciting – the momentum is there," said AU Director of Athletics Ryan Erlacher. "We feel like we have one of the best facilities in the Southeast when it comes to arenas, and certainly all the work that's been done here over the past few years for this project is going to make a huge impact on our operation."
Occupancy Permit Granted for New Crestview Athletic Center
An occupancy permit has been granted by the State of Ohio for the new Athletic Center for Crestview Local Schools.
District Superintendent Dan Hill said that the state granted the permit for use of the facility after completing the necessary inspections.
Final site items are being completed at this time and the district is currently in the planning stages for an open house and dedication of the new facility, he added.
The district is also planning to release more details soon about the new PreK-12 campus, which Hill said remains on project schedule.
