Smithfield Celebrates Completion, Opening of Boyle Athletic Complex
From an eyesore and potentially injury-inducing track to a state-of-the-art field, school and town officials celebrated the completion of all projects related to a Boyle Athletic Complex grand opening last week.
Surrounded by student athletes, the school choir, cheerleaders, teachers, and town and school administrators past and present, the grand opening brought new and old faces back to Smithfield High School.
Supt. Dawn Bartz listed numerous people to thank for their hand in the project, reading on for several pages. She said the path to updating the field began in 2020, when cracks in the track, divots in the field, and other deficiencies made the complex an eyesore for the district.
Mankato State University Athletics Unveils New Home for Football, Soccer, Track and Field

Minnesota State University unveiled its plans Wednesday for a new football, soccer and track and field facility.

Shortly after arriving at MSU in 2002, Buisman was tasked by then President Richard Davenport to come up with a master plan to have the school’s outdoor facilities match the standard of indoor facilities it uses, such as Taylor Center and the Mayo Clinic Health Systems Event Center.
Eastern Michigan Celebrates the Opening of New Track
An exciting addition to the homecoming weekend, the ribbon cutting ceremony was celebrated with attendance from student-athletes and alumni of the cross country and track and field programs.
The construction of the new track was a part of the second phase of the Championship Building Plan for EMU Athletics, with the help of a $2 million gift from former EMU cross country/track & field student-athletes, Dan McClory and Keith Moore, who were four-year teammates under legendary Head Coach Bob Parks.
