Rancho Cordova Approves Cordova City Center With 7,500-Seat Arena
Rancho Cordova city leaders have unanimously approved plans for a massive new development called the Cordova City Center, anchored by a 7,500-seat sports arena.
During Tuesday night’s meeting, council members each gave their votes before Mayor Pulipati declared the motion passed.
The project’s economic development agreement allows for construction of a multi-use arena, two or more hotels, a retail and dining district, movie theater, businesses, a public plaza, parking and at least 640 residential units.
Fulton Science Academy Unveils New Athletics Facilities
Fulton Science Academy publicly unveiled its new state-of-the-art athletic facilities Sept. 17, 2025, with a ceremony attended by students, parents, faculty and community leaders.
Attendees were treated to a rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” by FSA’s elementary students, speeches from notable guests, a Mustang mascot reveal, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and refreshments as they explored the newly opened additions.
Fulton Science Academy, which opened as a private institution in 2012, has grown from over 100 students to nearly 1,000 in that time. With that growth, the need for permanent and more accessible athletic facilities became clear.
Peak Volleyball and Pickleball Facility Opens in Sherwood Park
A new indoor sports facility has officially opened to serve the growing volleyball and pickleball communities in Sherwood Park.
Located at Unit 75, 146 Provincial Avenue, the Peak Athletic Centre is the first of its kind to dedicate itself to the two sports. The 10,000 square-foot facility can be configured for four pickleball courts, three volleyball courts, or one competition volleyball court, offering flexibility for athletes and events. The centre hosted its grand opening earlier this month on Saturday, Sept. 6.
