University of New Mexico Plans Stadium Modernization Project

The University of New Mexico (UNM) is launching a comprehensive development planning and feasibility study to create a long-term vision and implementation action plan for modernizing University Stadium and revitalizing South Campus as a mixed-use, economic development district.

The plan created through this process will outline modernization options for the stadium and explore development opportunities that benefit students, fans, and the community. The initial planning phase is supported, in part, by state capital outlay funding authorized by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham.

UNM selected a joint proposal from Dekker, a New Mexico-based firm with extensive campus and regional experience, and Gensler, a global architecture, design, and planning firm with vast experience in athletics master planning and the development of sports venues and training facilities. Recent highlights include the completion of Snapdragon Stadium at San Diego State University, the UCLA Athletic Masterplan and Basketball Training Facility, and the Moody Center, renovations at Darrell K. Royal Stadium, as well as ongoing projects at the University of Texas at Austin.

Ribbon Cutting Held in Chico, Calif., for New Sports Complex

Core Butte Charter School officials celebrated the opening of their brand-new sports complex, marking a significant milestone for student athletes.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at the campus located on Notre Dame Boulevard.

The school has been planning the sports complex for years, working through challenges such as funding and space limitations. Construction began in March, and today, student athletes ran the first lap around the new track, officially inaugurating their home turf.

The previous field that was used by CORE Butte was riddled with gopher holes, posing safety risks for student athletes and causing games to be postponed or canceled. The new complex will serve both middle and high school teams, providing them with a reliable place to play.
