Pinellas County Unveils Plans for New Recreation Center
After years of planning and extensive community input, Pinellas County and Palm Harbor officials on Oct. 29 formally unveiled plans for construction of a long-awaited, state-of-the-art recreation center.
The two-story, 28,000 square-foot facility is designed to dramatically expand wellness and programming opportunities for north Pinellas residents and will also serve as a hardened, designated community emergency shelter.
The announcement was made at a public meeting hosted by Palm Harbor Parks and Recreation at The Centre in Palm Harbor, where Recreation Director Erica Lynford, County Commissioner Dave Eggers, and other project leaders addressed a large and enthusiastic crowd.

Ishpeming Mulls Athletics Facilities Improvements
The Ishpeming Public School District will have a bond proposal on the ballot for the November 4, 2025 election — without increasing the tax rate from current 2025 levels.
In recent years, the District has completed a number of important facility upgrades at both the Middle/High School and Birchview Elementary. With those improvements in place, it is now time to focus on needed updates at the Athletic Field Complex and to address space limitations at Birchview Elementary.
If approved, the proposed bond would allow the District to address several long-standing facility priorities, including:
- Construction of a new concession stand, public restrooms, and locker rooms at the athletic complex.
- Tennis court improvements, which have been a long-standing request from the community.
- A small storage addition at Birchview Elementary, where every available space is currently being used for supplemental student services such as counseling, speech, and tutoring. This addition would provide much-needed storage for instructional materials and equipment, designed to be as cost-effective as possible.
