The University of Tennessee and development partners have unveiled “865 Neyland” as the official name and brand identity for the massive mixed-use entertainment district coming to the banks of the Tennessee River.
Commanders Unveil First Look at New Stadium's Seating Bowl
The Washington Commanders and global design firm HKS are releasing the first renderings of the new stadium's seating bowl. Inspired by the iconic RFK Stadium, these renderings bridge past and present by showcasing the team's focus on recreating the loud, intense, and intimate atmosphere that defined the franchise's championship era through a continuous, unified bowl. The new stadium will pay tribute to the history of the team while leveraging the latest technology and innovation to deliver unmatched live event experiences across all levels.
"Our vision for the new stadium is to create a world-class venue that honors the legacy of RFK while setting a new standard for the fan experience," said team president Mark Clouse. "Every aspect of the design is intended to amplify the energy and intensity of the crowd, create an immersive shared viewing experience, and bring fans closer to the action. Through innovative technology and acoustics designed to maximize crowd energy, the stadium will deliver one of the loudest environments in sports while reflecting the character and pride of the District."
IU Board of Trustees Approves $40M for Memorial Stadium Upgrades
The Indiana University Board of Trustees Executive Committee unanimously approved a $40 million renovation plan for the west bowl of Memorial Stadium during a Sept. 10 virtual meeting.
Executive Committee Chair David Hormuth, vice chair Marilee Springer, Matt Ferguson and Steve Henke all voted in favor of the project, which will add to and renovate existing facilities in the west bowl, like restroom and concessions spaces.
The west bowl was constructed in 1962 and has not undergone any major renovations since, John D’Angelo, vice president for capital planning and facilities at IU, said during the meeting. He said that the renovations will add 225 bathrooms to the west bowl and renovate the existing 166, bringing them up to Americans with Disabilities Act code.
