Populous Unveils Design for 70,000-Seat Vietnamese Stadium
Architecture studio Populous has unveiled its design for the Rach Chiec Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, which will become the country's national stadium.
Set to be built on the outskirts of the city, the stadium will be the largest in the country when completed, with around 30,000 seats more than the current record holder – the Mỹ Đình National Stadium.
The stadium will be wrapped in a diamond-patterned facade that, according to the studio, was informed by the shape of Nipa Palms that grow alongside rivers in the area.
It will be covered by a fully retractable roof that will allow the playing area to be environmentally controlled, while also shielding the surrounding residential areas from noise.

As James Madison moves toward a Nov. 16 deadline for detailed proposals from developers, a series of new documents provides the clearest picture yet of what the university expects from a potential expansion of Bridgeforth Stadium — and what the project could mean for other JMU Athletics facilities.
Among the documents available through an online vendor portal operated by the Commonwealth of Virginia is a 50-page request for detailed-phase proposals submitted by JMU as the university seeks a public-private partnership to develop and fund a near-complete redevelopment of its mid-campus precinct, along with other campus enhancements.
UNC Unveils Hall of Fame Displays at Kenan Stadium
Carolina football will celebrate its decorated history on Saturday, Oct. 3, when the Tar Heels unveil new permanent displays inside Kenan Stadium honoring the program's College Football Hall of Fame and Pro Football Hall of Fame members during UNC's game against Notre Dame.
The displays will recognize 12 Tar Heel legends who have earned induction into the College Football Hall of Fame, Pro Football Hall of Fame, or both. UNC's College Football Hall of Fame honorees will be recognized on the northeast corner of the stadium and its Pro Football Hall of Fame honorees featured on the southeast corner.
