Plan Announced for $54M Wolff Stadium Site
The future of Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium could look dramatically different, with a proposed $54.8 million redevelopment plan that would replace the longtime home of the San Antonio Missions with parks, homes, restaurants, shops and a community center.
The City of San Antonio has unveiled a concept design for the stadium property on the West Side, outlining how the site could be transformed into a mixed-use neighborhood over the next two decades.
The proposal calls for demolishing Wolff Stadium after the Missions move out in 2029, making way for a development featuring public green spaces, residential neighborhoods, health care services and commercial businesses.
Rio Americano High School Proposes $8M Stadium Expansion
An $8 million proposal to expand the football stadium at Rio Americano High School is drawing mixed reactions from families and nearby residents, as a district environmental review raises concerns about increased noise during nighttime events.
The San Juan Unified School District is considering improvements that would expand seating from 288 to approximately 2,575, add four permanent 80-foot light poles, install an upgraded sound system and build a new press box.
The improvements would allow the school to host larger events at its existing stadium, including nighttime football games. Rio Americano's varsity football team currently plays its home games at El Camino High School, less than 3 miles away.
