On Thursday, more than 700 people attended a board meeting of the Las Vegas Stadium Authority under the false impression that they would be able to apply to work at the new Raiders Stadium.
Word of the ersatz hiring spree was spread through the circulation of a flier announcing βpre-job recruitment sign-ups,β according to Bleacher Report.
In a statement, board chairman Steve Hill said, βIf folks were brought to the meeting under a false pretense, I think that's too bad. That obviously shouldn't happen.β
At the meeting, a Raiders spokesperson told the media that the board intends to meet state regulations through 15 percent contracting to small businesses.
The boardβs true plans for hiring stadium staff will be discussed at the next scheduled meeting in August.
Stadium construction is expected to be complete by June 2020.
