Des Moines Public Schools and Drake University will reportedly partner on a $19.5 million stadium project. The 4,000-seat stadium will be built on Drake’s campus, and will serve as the home field for several local high schools while also being the primary venue for Drake’s men’s and women’s soccer teams. The project received unanimous approval from the school board. — Des Moines Register

The Citadel recently installed a new synthetic turf playing surface at Johnson Hagood Stadium. The new T°Cool® surface is specially designed to prevent excessively high on-field temperatures, and features cooling technology that can reportedly keep the playing surface between 30 and 50 degrees cooler. — Press release[Image courtesy The Citadel][Image courtesy The Citadel]

The University of Oregon showed off lights and sound on its Hayward Field renovation project. The facility will offer 12,650 permanent seats, and have the ability to expand to 25,000 seats. A project by SRG Partnership, the renovation is expected to be completed yet this year.

Richardson (Texas) ISD recently completed four new 80,000-square-foot athletics facilities at each of the district’s high schools. Construction on the final facility wrapped up in April. Each facility includes indoor practice fields, a weight room, meeting rooms and offices for coaches and staff. The projects were part of a $437 million bond measure approved in 2016. — Dallas News
