The University of Iowa, pending approval by the Board of Regents, is poised to break ground on a $4 million soccer operations facility in late fall. The privately funded facility will include team locker rooms, lounge space, a multipurpose room, athletic training facilities, coaches’ offices, officials’ rooms and storage space. Construction on the University of Idaho’s $51 million Central Credit Union Arena hit a milestone this week, as workers raised the first 35-foot wood column, marking the beginning of the timber phase of the project that will be constructed mostly with local wood. With 4,200 seats, the arena will serve primarily as the home for the Vandals men’s and women’s basketball programs, but will also host cultural events. The project is slated for completion in August 2021, and will be fully operational by the 2021-22 basketball season. — Idaho Press
New Hartford, N.Y., is in the midst of a renovation project for it’s 40-year-old community recreation center. So far, work has included replacing an ice chiller for the facility’s rink, installing new LED lighting and improving outdoor playground space. Ongoing work will include a new speaker system and exterior cosmetic changes. — Utica Observer-Dispatch
