Construction began this week on a new minor league baseball stadium for the Beloit (Wis.) Snappers. The project will feature a synthetic turf field, a 360-degree concourse, a grandstand with administrative offices and player facilities, and a stadium club space for year-round events. Jacksonville University has begun work to renovate its athletics fieldhouse. The planned upgrades will expand the weight room and training space by 1,900 square feet, and introduce a 20-yard turf area. The University of Utah was the recipient of a $1 million gift to build a new on-campus golf training facility to be named the David S. Layton Golf Academy. The 7,000-square-foot space will feature a nearly 4,000-square-foot indoor putting green, two hitting bays, locker rooms, player lounges and integrated technology to help with player development.
