Oak View Group, NHL Seattle and Amazon announced that the new arena under construction will be known as Climate Pledge Arena. The partners also announced that the facility would seek to become the first zero carbon arena in the world, consuming only renewable energy sources. The facilityβs ice surface will reportedly be the βgreenest ice in the world using rainwater, refrigerants with zero greenhouse gas emissions and electric Zambonis.β β NHL.com

The North Dakota state legislature approved a plan Thursday for North Dakota State University to renovate its Ellig Sports Complex, home to the schoolβs track and field programs, for $5 million. The project will include a new track surface, as well as renovating the infield for field events. The private funding plan was unanimously approved, and is expected to break ground in the spring of 2021. β Inforum.com

Austin Peay State University announced plans to renovate its indoor tennis facility into an indoor practice facility for all sports. Plans call for 26,000 square feet of practice space and a new synthetic turf surface. The facility will be available to all student-athletes, but will primarily serve the baseball, softball, football and track and field programs. Meanwhile, the schoolβs outdoor tennis facilities were recently resurfaced, and additional improvements are currently under consideration. β LetsGoPeay.com
Birmingham, Ala., provided a progress update for its Protective Stadium, which is slated for completion in Fall of 2021. The $200 million facility will be operated by the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex and be home to the University of Alabama Birminghamβs football program. β AL.com
