UTEP announced that it had received a $5.1 million gift to help fund the renovation of the Sun Bowl. The funds will help the school complete the renovation project, which will see the installation of outdoor club seats, loge boxes, a new club-level bar, suites, an upgraded press box and more. To commemorate the gift, the structure that houses the press box and the Hunt Family Sky Lounge will be renamed the Paul and Alejandra Foster Tower. — UTEPMiners.com

The owner of the Tennessee Smokies minor league baseball team released renderings of a new baseball stadium located in downtown Knoxville. Owner Randy Boyd, in releasing the renderings noted similarities to Wrigleyville in Chicago (the Smokies are the AA-Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs), as the complex would include a stadium, apartment homes and retail opportunities. — WATE.com
