The city council of Inglewood, Calif., unanimously approved the sale of a parcel of land to developers who plan on building a new $1.8 billion arena for the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers. Plans for the project call for an 18,000-seat arena, team offices, a practice facility and public use-spaces. Construction on the project could begin next year, and the arena is targeting opening prior to the 2024-25 NBA season. — LATimes.com
San Benito CISD in Texas is adding an indoor multipurpose athletic center to its high school campus. The facility will include a 90-yard synthetic turf field lined for both football and soccer, drop-down batting cages, a 10,000-square-foot weight room and a sports medicine space. The University of Mobile broke ground this week on the J.L. Bedsole Strength and Conditioning Complex. The 4,000-square-foot facility will be used by the NAIA program’s student-athletes, as well as students in the school’s health and sports sciences program.
