In an act of revenge against the Texas Longhorns, Alabama will put the Longhorns' band and fans in the upper deck of Bryant-Denny Stadium when the teams meet on Saturday.
The move comes after Texas offered to put the Crimson Tide's band in the upper deck of Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium for the teams' matchup last season.
“We are able to reciprocate a similar seating arrangement to what we had last year in Austin,” athletic director Greg Byrne told The Tuscaloosa News.'
Because Texas isn't in the SEC yet this year, Alabama doesn't have to meet the conference's requirement of at least 2,000 visitor tickets in the lower level of the stadium. As such, the Crimson Tide will offer Texas fans and the school's band 5,000 ticket in the upper deck.
UA chose not to send the 400-member Million Dollar Band to Austin "due to the seating location and configuration of the visiting institution's ticket allotment at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium," a statement from UA read in fall of 2022.
According to the Tuscaloosa News, Texas will send a smaller version of its band to Bryant-Denny and will not have a halftime performance.
