A hockey arena in Alaska was evacuated last week due to a reported carbon dioxide leak during a high school game.

According to Alaska's News Source, an alarm at the Ben Boeke Ice Arena began sounding just minutes after the puck dropped during a game between South Anchorage and West Anchorage.

All occupants were immediately evacuated, including hundreds of fans, as well as players in full hockey gear.

O'Malley Ice and Sports Center managing member Steve Agni confirmed to ANS the CO2 leak but didn't give a timeline on when repairs would be completed.

The South and West Anchorage teams were given the green light to continue their game next door at the newly opened Sullivan Arena, the former home of the University of Alaska Anchorage and the Alaska Aces hockey teams.

On the larger Olympic-sized ice of the Sullivan Arena, South upset the top-seeded Eagles 2-1.
