The Nevada Supreme Court on Monday struck down a ballot measure that would have allowed voters to repeal public funding that lawmakers approved last year for the Oakland A's new MLB stadium planned for The Strip.

According to CBS News, five judges voted to uphold a lower court ruling that struck down the referendum.

In a statement following the ruling, Schools over Stadiums, a political action campaign, said their goal now is to get the referendum included on the ballot in 2026.

The Nevada Supreme Court ruled that the entirety of the 66-page bill must be included in the ballot question to provide its full context. However, ballot referendums in Nevada can be no more than 200 works.

According to CBS, the court ruled that the 200-word description submitted by Schools over Stadiums was "misleading" and "explains the general effect of a referendum, but it does not describe the practical effects of this specific referendum."

MLB owners have already unanimously approved the A's move to Las Vegas. The A's will play in their season beginning in 2025 in Sacramento until the planned opening of the new stadium in 2028.
