LA28 announced Dodger Stadium as the latest summer Olympic venue in the city. It joins SoFi Stadium, 1932 Pool in Exposition Park and the Rose Bowl Stadium among several other locations as host venues across L.A.
According to Sports Illustrated, Dodger Stadium was also a venue at the 1984 Olympics. It hosted baseball demonstration games prior to baseball becoming an official Olympic sport in 1992.

Baseball was not contested in the Paris 2024 Olympics, but it will return in 2028.
"America’s favorite pastime will capture the world’s attention when baseball makes its Olympic return in Dodger Stadium in Downtown Los Angeles, one of the world’s most iconic stadiums,” LA28 said in a statement. “It has hosted countless record-breaking games, including 11 World Series, the most recent being in 2024, and will continue to break records in 2028.
As the oldest MLB stadium on the West Coast, Dodger Stadium is well-positioned to host the Olympic action. The stadium features views of the L.A. skyline, and it can accommodate more than 50,000 fans.
With the addition of Dodger Stadium, all but two events now have official venues that have been approved by the International Olympic Committee. The venue locations are clustered into three central areas across the city.
Baseball and Dodger Stadium are a part of the “downtown core” that also includes boxing and artistic gymnastics.
LA28 Chief Executive Reynold Hoover told the Los Angeles Times, “We’ve promised the world an incredible Olympic Games and today we’re proud to share the plan that will make it happen. Los Angeles is the epicenter of sports, culture and entertainment, and every venue selected for the 2028 Games will provide athletes and fans the best possible experience.”
