The Pittsburgh Steelers have begun the process of replacing the playing surface at Acrisure Stadium, as well as some seats.
According to WTAE, the team will replace the playing surface with a new blend of grass that's different than what the Steelers have used in the past.
The new surface will use Bermuda grass, which is often used on golf courses and is said to be more weather resistant, providing a safer surface for players. The turf will also bring the field up to NFL standards.
The move by the Steelers comes after the NFLPA score card ranked the Steeler's field at Acrisure Stadium the worst in the league.
The Pittsburgh Sports and Exhibition Authority voted to pay more than $6 million for the first phase of seat replacements last fall.
