A renovation of the Bismarck (N.D) Community Bowl (pictured) has begun. Located on the Bismarck State College campus, the bowl is also used by local public and private schools, the University of Mary's football, soccer and track teams, and other local groups. Designed by JLG Architects of Bismarck, the renovation will replace the deteriorating track; add a new grand entrance, storage buildings, seating and suites; and improve locker and training rooms. The stadium will reopen in November 2013 as the MDU Resources Community Bowl after the energy company's $2 million donation toward the $8 million renovation.

Mississippi State University is expanding Davis Wade Stadium. In addition to more seating, the $75 million expansion will provide additional elevators, restrooms and concession stands, and a new west-side concourse. A new high-definition video board will be added to the north end, and a television compound located west of the stadium will allow network broadcast trucks to connect to the stadium. When construction is complete in August 2014, the stadium will offer seating for more than 61,000, making it the largest stadium in the state. LPK Architects of Meridian, Miss., worked with 360 Architecture of Kansas City on the design.
