The Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association has penalized the Delaware Military Academy for the second time in two years due to rules violations.
As a result of the penalties, the academy's athletic director, Jeremy Jeanne, has been removed as the DMA girls' basketball coach
While the DMA had said that Jeanne would continue as athletic director, the DIAA board took further action, removing Jeanne from its rules & regulations and officials committees, effective immediately.
Any further rules violations could result in DMA teams being banned from postseason play. The school is also required to submit what is termed a "compliance plan" to the DIAA executive director by May 1.
While the DIAA board has discussed the matter in an executive session, details of the wrongdoing were not made public.
According to Delaware Onlilne, DMA and Jeanne had also been reprimanded by the DIAA board in October 2022 for using an ineligible football player in the school's season opener.
Nick Lincoln, then the DMA football coach, was suspended for the rest of the season. In addition, Jeanne was given probation and required to submit a corrective plan for violation of the DIAA rule requiring “strict compliance” with all regulations.
