Detroit FC Releases New Renderings of Planned Stadium

Detroit City FC has announced a change to the timeline of its stadium project. According to the revised schedule, AlumniFi Field is now expected to open in spring 2028, just ahead of the start of the next USL Championship season. The club stated that the additional time will allow for further refinement of the project and ensure a higher-quality final result.

Club officials emphasized that the updated timeline is intended to create the best possible environment for supporters, enhance the matchday experience, and maximize the long-term impact of the development on the surrounding community. As a result, Detroit City FC will continue playing its home matches at Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck throughout the 2027 season, where the club has been based since 2016.

Despite the delayed opening date, the project is moving into its next phase. The club announced that the official groundbreaking ceremony will take place in July. The new stadium is being built on the site of the former Southwest Detroit Hospital in the Corktown neighborhood. The approximately seven-acre property was acquired in 2024 by an entity affiliated with Detroit City FC for $6.5 million. Demolition of the abandoned hospital began in late 2025, preparing the site for construction.
