Towson says cheerleading team sanctioned over hazing allegations isn't appealing punishment

TOWSON, Md. (AP) - Towson University cheerleaders won't appeal their sanction over hazing allegations.

The university said Friday that the team, which was initially suspended for the entire academic year, has decided not to appeal a modified punishment of social probation for the fall semester.

That sanction means the team may practice but cannot perform as a team or participate in any university or off-campus event.

The team had the option of appealing to the university president but decided not to. That means the matter is resolved.

The university has not disclosed the nature of the hazing allegations. It says the incident report detailing the allegations is a confidential student record and will not be released.
