Gym Catering to 50-Plus Demographic Opens in Fargo, N.D.

FARGO (AP) - A new fitness center geared toward people 50 and older has opened its doors in Fargo.

Welcyon fitness owner Heather Teigen said her gym features a more relaxing environment with softer music and fewer mirrors.

Each member is paired with a dietitian to help develop a nutrition plan, and the new equipment uses air compressors so it's easier on joints. The training equipment also tracks each member's workout and progress.

Teigen said staff will push members a little, but will not push them to the point in which they'll injure themselves.
