(SCG), a premier builder of synthetic turf and natural grass athletic fields, capped off a busy summer season by completing six synthetic turf projects in Northeast Ohio, making bullpen modifications for the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field and breaking ground on a synthetic turf baseball field at Cuyahoga Community College. The bullpen work for Major League Baseball's Cleveland Indians included the installation of synthetic turf, artificial dirt around the home plates and new trench drains. The other Northeast Ohio projects SCG completed this summer include:

  • John Carroll University's Shula Stadium - a synthetic turf system and running track
  • Youngstown State University's Stambaugh Stadium - a synthetic turf system
  • Youngstown State University's Watson and Tressel Training Site - a synthetic turf system for the state-of-the-art indoor training facility
  • St. Ignatius High School, Cleveland - replacement of its practice field with a new synthetic turf system
  • Jackson High School's Robert Fife Stadium, Massillon - a new synthetic turf field
  • Denison Park, Cleveland Heights - a new synthetic turf field for recreational sports

In addition, SCG is currently constructing a synthetic turf baseball infield, complete with a synthetic pitcher's mound, at Ron Mottl Field, located on the Western Campus of Cuyahoga Community College in Parma. "We're proud to have built fields for some of the most fabled teams in sports, from the New York Yankees to the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. As a Cleveland-area company, we feel an identical level of pride and bring the same degree of professionalism to these projects right here in our back yard," said SCG President and CEO Paul Franks. The synthetic turf utilized on the projects was manufactured by Shaw Sportexe, one of the leading synthetic turf companies in North America with more than 700 successful installations. SCG constructed the original playing surface at Progressive Field, which was then called Jacobs Field, in 1997 and has since done other work for the Indians over the years. The success of that project helped the company land the construction of other professional and Division I college fields around the country, including Cleveland Browns Stadium.
