Richards-Ross to Utilize Technogym Equipment to Train for Rio 2016
New York, NY – March 10, 2016 - Technogym (www.technogym.com),a worldwide leader in the fitness and wellness industry, today announced that 5-time Olympic medalist and noted American track and field athlete Sanya Richards-Ross, will be the newest brand ambassador for Technogym leading up to Rio 2016.
Long-ranked as one of the fastest women to run the 400m, Sanya Richards Ross is a world-class track and field athlete and sprinter from Austin, TX. The first American woman to do so in 28 years, and only the second in history, Richards-Ross became an Olympic champion in the 400 meters at the 2012 Games in London by overtaking the competition in the last 50 meters of the race. Anchoring the 4x400m relay team to Gold for the third consecutive time, Richards-Ross is currently tied as one of the most decorated female track and field Olympians of all time with a rich legacy at the Olympic Games. On her journey to Rio this year, Richards-Ross will train on key Technogym equipment lines that focus on strength, stamina and agility training, including the new SKILLMILL equipment launching in 2016.
Technogym also has a long-standing history with the Olympic Games, having trained top athletes across the world in their quest to achieve the highest level of sports performance and fitness. Technogym was the official supplier for the last five editions of the Olympic Games, including Sydney in 2000, Athens in 2004, Turin in 2006, Beijing in 2008, and London in 2012.
Technogym has been appointed as the Official Supplier for Rio 2016, and will provide a full range of equipment for the main training center at the Olympic Village in Barra da Tijuca, open to all athletes taking part in the Games, and will equip 15 centers and warm-up areas specifically designed for the different disciplines at the competition venues. Alongside more than 1,000 pieces of equipment that will be installed, and access to the company’s Mywellness cloud digital platform that will allow athletes to connect to Technogym equipment or from their mobile devices to customize their training programs, Technogym will also provide a team of 50 athletic trainers to support the athletes while they are in Rio.
