Donation Will Help Create More Swimmers and Reduce the Risk of Drowning
Colorado Springs, Colorado, June 09, 2016 - This past April, the Master Pools Guild kindly donated $40,000 to the National Swimming Pool FoundationⓇ’s (NSPFⓇ) Step Into SwimTM Campaign to help fund programs that teach the life-saving skill of swimming.
Both NSPF and Master Pools Guild firmly believe that creating more swimmers will help more people live healthier and happier lives, reduce the risk of drowning, and build demand for pools, spas, and the aquatics field. The Step Into Swim Campaign began in 2012 and has a goal to create 1 million more swimmers over a ten year period.
The Board of Directors and the staff of NSPF are excited to expand the partnership between the 501(c)(3) non-profit and the Master Pools Guild in the following years.
“The Step into Swim Campaign focuses on the safe enjoyment of water activities and sharing information on the benefits of a healthy aquatic lifestyle. Supporting Step Into Swim is a natural fit for the Master Pools Guild,” stated Master Pools Guild Board Member, Carla Sovernigo. “It’s about promoting health, safety and fun… all benefits your family can experience in and around your swimming pool. Our industry has much to offer and we are excited to partner with NSPF’s Step Into Swim Campaign and share that message.”
“The Master Pools Guild and NSPF share a history and vision to raise professionalism and promote our field,” began CEO, Thomas Lachocki, Ph.D. “We achieve three goals by teaching more children to swim: people will live healthier and happier lives, the risk of drowning will be reduced, and demand for pools and spas will grow! This partnership will help accomplish these aspirations that the entire industry should hold,” Lachocki concluded.
As of press time, the Step Into Swim Campaign is supporting eight clubs and organizations in the upcoming year. Angels of America’s Fallen, New York State Parks/Heritage Foundation, Splash Mid-South’s Aqua Angels in Tennessee, Redding Aquatic Center in Northern California, USA Swimming’s SwimToday, Florida Spa & Pool Association, Fort Worth Drowning Prevention Coalition, and YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth in Texas will be receiving funds for swim lessons and drowning prevention education for 2016.
Support for this campaign is an investment in the next generation of swimmers - for fun, for fitness, and for family safety. To learn more about Step Into Swim, make a donation, or locate a swim class, please visit www.stepintoswim.org.
