WASHINGTON, DC, September 23, 2016 - The first leader of the District of Columbia government's Department of General Services (DGS), Brian Hanlon, is returning to the program management firm, Brailsford & Dunlavey (B&D) as Vice President - Director of Program Management.
Hanlon was with B&D from 1996 to 2008, and helped lead the firm's growth and innovation in planning and program management.  While at B&D he also spearheaded the cross-functional team that led the region's effort to land the 2012 Olympics.  In his new role, he'll provide strategic oversight of the firm's program management portfolio nationwide, with more direct daily involvement in the many ongoing programs in the mid-atlantic region.

"Returning to Brailsford & Dunlavey is a great opportunity for me to put my 30 years of experience to work in inspiring and empowering our clients and partners to strengthen their communities with practical and progressive facilities suited for the 21st century," Hanlon said.  "It also gives me the chance to reunite with Paul Brailsford and Chris Dunlavey, two of the most committed and respected professionals in the facilities planning and program management industry."

Hanlon left B&D in 2008 to lead a planning effort for the District of Columbia and in 2011 was appointed by Mayor Vincent Gray to lead the new DC Department of General Services.  He led the consolidation of the agency, established its vision and mission, automated and streamlined the management of 27 million square feet of real estate, created the first preventative maintenance platform, led the City's first successful public-private partnership, and built several billion dollars in award winning new schools, parks, laboratories, and various municipal facilities.  With six operating divisions, a staff of 700, and an annual budget of over $1 billion, Mr. Hanlon modernized real estate development and operations for the District. He also revolutionized the City's energy procurement and management platform, spearheading the City's wind and solar energy deal and paving the way for hundreds of millions of dollars in savings.
