AUSTIN, TX (December 12, 2016) – The International Association of Athletics Federation confirms Hellas Construction’s epiQ Track S200 track system as being an IAAF Certified, making this the fifth Hellas’ track system to pass this very important test standard.
“It’s an in-depth process,” said Bob Allison, vice president of Hellas Construction. “We take athletes’ safety very serious and do our best to produce the finest quality product that will give them the performance required by the IAAF,” Allison said.
This IAAF certification means the epiQ Track® S200 product was tested by an IAAF Accredited Laboratory and meets or exceeds all the specifications required to ensure compliance with IAAF requirements for competition surfaces, to safeguard the health of athletes and guarantee the integrity of the performance related to the track surface. “The IAAF has a world-wide responsibility to guarantee validity and accuracy of performances and to support any initiative to improve athletics goods. The IAAF Certification System raises the standard in athletics, thus it will help improve the level of competition,” said Lamine Diack, President of the IAAF.
The epiQ Track S200 track system is suitable for any facility. This porous, paved-inplace running track surface is comprised of Hellas polyurethane, bound rubber granules, topped with another layer of the polyurethane and EPDM granules.
Hellas has four other track systems that are all IAAF certified; epiQ Tracks® DYAD, epiQ Tracks® Z5000, epiQ Tracks® X1000, and epiQ Tracks® V300. Hellas installed their IAAF Certified epiQ Z5000 track system for Prairie View A&M University in May, where several Olympic Athletes practiced in July before the 2016 Olympics.
