The campaign connected a community of more than 180,000 people globally to donate physical exercise for a good cause
New York, New York – April 10, 2018 – Technogym, the world’s leading wellness and fitness company, today announced the results of its ‘Let’s Move for a Better World’ campaign - a worldwide social initiative to raise awareness in the fight against obesity, that ran its fifth edition from March 12-31, 2018.
‘Let’s Move for a Better World’ is the biggest social campaign in the fitness and wellness industry and embodies Technogym’s mission to improve wellness on a global scale. Thanks to Technogym’s ecosystem and Mywellness, gym members in fitness facilities around the world joined forces to donate their movement and promote wellness and healthy lifestyles in their local community and beyond. The more active the users were, the bigger the donation to the communities.
Participants’ MOVEs – Technogym’s unit for measuring movement – were logged through Technogym’s Mywellness cloud - the first open platform in the industry, connecting people and fitness facilities all over the world.
Thanks to the Technogym Ecosystem, a unique solution that includes connected equipment and the brand’s Mywellness cloud - users can enjoy a fully personalized wellness experience, and facilities can create challenges among members or with other clubs.
The 2018 edition of this campaign allowed an increased number of operators to win and donate a piece of Technogym equipment to a not for profit organization of their choice, thanks to the new awards system which enables every facility to win by reaching predefined targets of movement performed.
Some key stats from the 2018 edition:
- 1,033 fitness facilities across 29 countries participated
- Over 180,000 participants tracked their exercise on Technogym equipment collecting MOVEs, Technogym’s unit of measurement for movement
- A total of 628 million MOVEs were generated
- This represents more than 263 million calories burned or approximately 83,000 pounds lost
Moreover, a representative for each of the participating facilities will get the chance to take part to the ‘The Let’s Move for a Better World Conference’ at the Technogym Village, in Cesena, Italyfrom May 20-22.
The conference allows participants to share knowledge on how physical activity can provide a vital contribution to building a more sustainable society based on personal health, and to celebrate the campaign winners during the official award ceremony.
