Germantown, WI Chamber of Commerce selects highly-respected local manufacturer of world-class LED lighting
GERMANTOWN, WI. May 9, 2018 — Citing exceptional contributions to the community and a dedication to its future, the Germantown Area Chamber of Commerce awards J.W. Speaker Corporation its Business of the Year.
Though known worldwide for manufacturing innovative LED lighting, it was J.W. Speaker’s local efforts that prompted the nomination. In 2017 alone, J.W. Speaker supported equipment purchases for the Germantown Fire Department, continued its support of the Police Department’s Canine Unit, sponsored community events and fundraisers, and contributed majorly to the Germantown High School Technical Education Department.
School Board President Bob Soderberg expressed his gratitude: “J.W. Speaker is a friend of the Germantown School System. They are a wonderful partner who we can always count on to be there for us. As each year goes by that relationship expands and strengthens.”
Jamie Speaker, Co-President of the company, accepted the Chamber’s award. “Germantown has been a great place for us to grow our business and our commitment continues. Over the next three years, we’re planning to invest over $25 million to create a Germantown campus that includes a state-of-the-art Design Center.” J.W. Speaker has already taken the first step in the process by purchasing 100 acres of land adjacent to their Freistadt Road World Headquarters.
This is the second time J.W. Speaker has received the Germantown Chamber of Commerce’s Business of the year award, also being honored in 2011.
“Our Germantown roots go back to 1988,” continued Co-President Speaker. “We came here with 45,000 square feet and 50 employees, and thanks in part to the relationship we have with the village, we’ve built a second facility and provide nearly 500 jobs. It’s a win-win.”
