Colorado Springs, Colorado, September 28, 2015 –The World Aquatic Health™ Conference (WAHC) announces special keynote speaker, three time Olympian-Gold Medal winner, Rowdy Gaines and a new WAHC track focused on industry market growth. The National Swimming Pool Foundation®, a non-profit located in Colorado, is hosting the WAHC at the Scottsdale Plaza Resort in Arizona on October 7-9, 2015.
On Thursday morning, October 8 at 8:30 am, Rowdy Gaines will kick off the 12th Annual WAHC with an inspiring opening address titled the “Dedication and Commitment through the Peaks and Valleys of Life.” Rowdy has been a prominent ambassador for the sport of swimming for more than 30 years as his Olympic journey peaked in 1984 when he won three gold medals. The WAHC is proud to have him lend his life experiences and knowledge of swimming to the attendees of the Conference. Gaines was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1995; ten years later he became a part of the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame.
Having an Olympian Celebrity isn’t the only new and noteworthy announcement for the 2015 WAHC. Organizers are pleased to present Market Growth, a new track that will be presented on Thursday, October 8 from 10:00 am- 4:50 pm. This track will lay strategic groundwork for the pool and spa industry and initiate a necessary dialog to forge a vision for the future of aquatics.
The Thursday track is meant to show professionals in the aquatic field how getting more people to swim can benefit their individual business and increase sales overall. Presentations will link the health of the U.S. to the health of the swimming field and help attendees learn how to get the public off the couch and into the water. Sessions include a range of topics, from real life stories about how the Angels of America’s Fallen has changed the lives of children to making pool designs more accessible and relevant for all.
“We need to better understand today’s consumer, message effectively together, and ride the coattails of major health and economic trends,” emphasizes Thomas M. Lachocki, Ph.D., CEO of NSPF. “Healthier people and greater prosperity will be the result for the entire industry and the public.”
